Over time the way we communicate has changed, starting from the invention of telephones. Nowadays the way we communicate and interact has changed as communications are now diversified.

Sthenia has decided to discuss telephony in our present-day and how it would like in the future.

Due to the 2019 pandemic, the use of Zoom, a video conference calling application has risen, so high, that it's now a norm. Aside from that, video calls and phone calls over the internet were still in use by a moderate number of people, and it's growing fast.

Today we still text and call with cellular radios, probably because it's what we are still used to, or that's the trend now, more so, it's a good means of fast and cheap communication.

But as the cost of the internet gets reduced and virtually everyone in the world is connected to the internet - almost half the world isn't connected to the Internet. Telephony will be done more than ever over the internet. Whether it's a video or voice call. And the main reasons for this include;

  • Faster internet connection
  • Far cheaper call rates over the Internet
  • The rapid increase in the number of internet users.

The future of telephony will be done over the internet, calls through cellular radios will seem obsolete. And it's the way the telephony is heading - with services like Facebook Messenger, Google Voice, WhatsApp. The sharp increase in the use of the internet as a means of telephony has shown the future of telephony already.

More so, there are people in the world who are still yet to embrace the internet. As of now, only half the world is connected to the internet, if in the future everyone gets connected, it's only right that communication is done mainly through the internet. In turn the shift in the use of cell radios to the internet as a primary means of telephony, in the future.
