Amir Ray said, "If you want to conquer the anxiety of life, live in the moment, live in the breath."

Meditation plays an important role in our lives, and it's key to escaping all the troubles that come with life, and more so it relieves us from stress.

Meditation is a practice which involves an individual using a technique – such as mindfulness or focusing the mind on a particular object, thought, or activity – to train attention and awareness to achieve a mentally clear, emotionally calm and stable state.

An hour of meditation each day might just transform your consciousness but we all know, there are certain techniques of meditation and mindfulness that might prove more helpful than the others. And practising that kind of meditation will go a long way in relieving you from work stress, relationship stress, life stress and so on. Here are a few simple meditation techniques you can do anywhere, whether at work or at home, to save you from stressful situations;

A five-minute Meditation technique.

Sit down, close your eyes, and focus on something like your breath, an image, or a word—“one” is a popular choice— and simply allow your mind to glide, returning to your focus when you need to. You can do this every day for five minutes, and you can try this anywhere, anytime.

Breathe slowly.

Slowing your breath calms you down. When you're stressed, you tend to take sharp and short breaths. Our nervous systems are wired so that inhalation is linked to the stress response and exhalation to the relaxation response. Taking short inhales and emphasizing long exhales helps prevent classic stress responses (like adrenaline rushes or insomnia) from happening.

Immerse your hands in water.

Stress notifies your body that you’re in a dangerous situation, it can make your heart race, and it also pulls the blood out of your toes and fingers and sends it to your internal organs.

To calm yourself, put your hands in warm water (rubbing them briskly together also works in a pinch.) to open up the blood vessels and cheat your brain out of its stressful situation.

Let calm and soothing music comfort you.

Listening to music can change repetitive thought patterns. Listening to music you like, can relieve you from stress. You must know that loud sounds can trigger stress responses, so avoid noisy environments. If that’s not possible as you roam the city, wear earbuds—nobody will notice they aren’t plugged into your listening device.
